Charles River Laboratories, Pathology Associates (PAI) is the largest provider of contract toxicologic pathology services in the world. Since 1981, PAI has gained a solid reputation as providing highly skilled and collaborative pathology-based services, supporting biomedical research and testing programs sponsored by pharmaceutical, biotechnology, consumer product, biomedical device, and chemical industry clients, as well as government agencies.

PAI operates 5 full-service laboratories within the US. Each of the laboratories is equipped to provide Good Laboratory Practice (GLP)-compliant necropsy, histology and histopathology services, as well as a wide variety of specialty pathology-based disciplines such as electron microscopy, immunohistopathology, plastics histology and histomorphometry. Throughout these various locations, PAI maintains a staff of approximately 40 veterinary pathologists, with the majority boarded by the American College of Veterinary Pathologists (ACVP) and many of which have advanced research degrees (M.S. and/or Ph.D.).
