About MdBio, Inc.
MdBio is a private, non-profit organization whose mission is to advance the commercial development of bioscience in Maryland, with a particular emphasis on manufacturing. The organization offers a wide array of programs to support bioscience companies, including:- direct funding of projects related to biomanufacturing,
- cost-sharing programs offering companies opportunities for joint participation,
- sharing of information for and about bioscience in Maryland and
- education and workforce development programs to assure a continuing pipeline of qualified workers for growing companies.
MdBio offers three biomanufacturing incentive programs that provide funding to companies undertaking biomanufacturing projects in Maryland. All of the programs offer cash in return for equity and/or royalties as well as a commitment to continue the project in Maryland. The GMP Manufacturing Incentive Program is designed for companies manufacturing a product for clinical trials under GMP conditions. The Product Development Accelerator Program targets development projects that provide the necessary data to move a product toward manufacturing, such as formulation development or process development projects. The Biomanufacturing Upgrade Program allows companies to finance projects that enhance their biomanufacturing capabilities, either to increase the scope of services they can offer or produce their own products more efficiently.
