With Donghai Securities And The German Startups Group, Fiagon AG Has Added Two New Investors With A Total Investment Of 7.5 Million Euros

BERLIN, March 17, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Fiagon AG, a manufacturer of clinical navigation systems, today announced it has increased its investment budget by 7.5 million euros with the support of Donghai Securities (Donghai), one of China's most successful investment banks, and the German Startups Group, an investment company headquartered in Berlin and focusing on young, rapidly growing businesses.

Fiagon CEO Dr. Timo Krüger stated that business is expected to continue on its ambitious path as it recently increased revenue by more than 5 million euros and successfully concluded the fiscal year. He said Fiagon AG is not only inspiring renowned investors with the navigation technology, but is also making an important contribution to patient safety during complex surgical interventions.

"Thanks to our new investors, we will not only continue our growth course but also be able to focus on the placement of disposables on the U.S. and Chinese market," Dr. Krüger added.

With navigated instruments for single use, Fiagon is planning to strategically expand its product portfolio but also develop additional market potentials at the same time. With moderate but steady steps, they believe they are developing into a major player on the international market.

Along with the increase in capital, Fiagon is also expanding the strategic expertise on its supervisory board. Krüger announced the addition of three new board members:

Dr. Olaf Schermeier, member of the executive board of Fresenius Medical Care AG & Co. KGaA. Said Dr. Schermeier, "The navigation technology of Fiagon AG has the potential to set new standards in surgical navigation. I am looking forward to providing the management team with support in the next phase of growth."

Dr. Clemens Scholz, Chief Executive of World of Medicine GmbH. Said Dr. Clemens, "Complex surgical procedures on the head or spine are a very stressful situation for patients. With this technology, we would like to ensure that each patient simultaneously receives the best possible technical treatment combined with the lowest risks. Here, the surgeon is supported not only in performing but also in planning surgical interventions. In this way, the navigation helps the surgeon during detailed planning to identify and mark high-risk structures in the tissue, such as nerves and blood vessels, and to protect these structures during the intervention. We are delighted with Fiagon AG's outstanding success and wish them continued success."

Hua (Alex) Liu, General Manager International, Business Department Donghai Securities Ltd. Said Liu, "Fiagon, with its state-of-the-art technology, fits precisely in the focus of Donghai, which concentrates on Life Sciences and Cleantech, Internet of Things (IOT) and Industry 4.0. With Donghai's commitment, Fiagon strengthens its solid financial basis for continuing its pursuit of a growth-oriented corporate strategy. Donghai is delighted to support Fiagon in its production establishment, growing their network and giving guidance in one of the world's most important sales markets."

The success story of Fiagon AG is based not merely on the idea of the company founders Dr. Krüger and Dr. Dirk Mucha, Chief Technology Officer, for visualizing hidden structures in the human body (particularly in the head and spine) and make them accessible for surgical interventions. The objective is to turn modern navigation technology into the standard (state of the art) of interventional medical facilities.
