New research shows infants try to communicate with you much earlier before they say their first word. The findings came from a cutting-edge new medical device called a magnetoencephalograph.

The machine is part of a trend of medical technology designed just for children. The sights and sounds of health care can be scary for kids -- especially infants too young to understand what's happening, the ones who are not old enough to communicate yet.

But kid-friendly medical machines are advancing pediatrics to a new level.
