Claims Against Johnson & Johnson's Talcum Powder Gets Alarming

On Monday, Johnson & Johnson (NYSE:JNJ) lost another lawsuit that blamed its iconic talcum powder for being a contributing factor in causing cancer. A US jury ordered the drug giant to pay $55 million in damages to a South Dakota woman who said the company’s talc-powder products for feminine hygiene caused her ovarian cancer.

Gloria Ristesund, the plaintiff, was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2011 after she had used JNJ’s products, including Baby Powder and Shower to Shower Powder on her genitals for almost four decades.
